My
main interest is to convince students of their own potential for
applying the tools of computer science and advanced mathematics
to the problems faced by modern society. I am therefore primarily
concerned with the development of teaching materials and courses
that are designed to convey difficult concepts clearly and rigorously
recognizing the need to hold the interest of students, challenge
their abilities, and help them obtain mastery of the material.
My
graduate students and I work together in two areas of mutual interest,
namely the discovery of new algorithms in computer security and
the development of advanced software in rational drug design.
Undergraduates with an interest in these areas are invited to
become active participants in our research projects.
