simplex is a research cluster, currently with two nodes

• simplex.cs.unb.ca the compute server
• vertex.cs.unb.ca the front end

These resources are available on request (to David Bremner) to students in the CASA group, and to non-CASA students working with Professors Bremner and Ray.

Storage

User files on simplex are not backed up. You should not use it as a primary storage location for your files. See storage for details.

Access

The recommended way to access the cluster is via the head node.

The cluster is currently only accessible from within the UNB network, so you'll have to use the UNB VPN or a jump host to ssh in.

For CASA researchers, note that you'll be able to reach the cluster from the CASA network, but not vice-versa. This means you'll need to initiate file transfers (e.g. rsync) from the CASA side.

Sharing with other users.

All user jobs (including interactive logins) are under the control of slurm. You can find out more at slurm
