UNB Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering degree program Complementary Studies Electives. The program requires 9 credit hours (typically three 3 credit hour courses) of Complementary Studies Electives (CSE). The choice of courses is subject to the following course sets: 1. Humanities : Anthropology, Classics, literature, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology. 2. Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS): Anthropology, Classics, English, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and World Literature and Culture Studies (WLCS). 3. CSE open: includes HSS (above) plus TME, Administration and language courses. Set 1 is a subset of set 2, and set 2 is a subset of set 3. B.Sc.SWE students must take one course from set 1, one course from set 2 and one course from set 3. Note that if a B.Sc.SWE student has NOT taken the ENGG 1003 Technical Communications (formerly part of ENGG 1013) course, then they must take at least one CSE course with a writing [W] designation. The term "literature" is intended to cover literature courses that can arise as English courses or other types of courses. The notion of literature courses are those that study the literature from a given period (e.g. ENGL 2603 Literature of Atlantic Canada, or ENGL 2703 Int. to Modern American Literature).
